What our clients are saying about us and our trips...

With web review sites being all the rage these days, it can be a little difficult to sift through the debris to actually find out what a place or hotel is like. From our point of view, having stayed in 99% of the hotels and safari lodges we sell (and quite a few we don't), we think that these reviews can be very misleading as it is impossible to know what the reviewer likes, was looking for, paid etc. etc. In our opinion our job is to find out what you like and match the correct product to you...see how we have done. (please note that ALL of the reviews we feature are 100% real and unedited. If you would like to speak to any of our past clients please let us know)

Furthermore, we have started to gather customer reviews through Trustpilot so please take a look at our page on there to see how we are doing! Trustpilot Reviews >>

Hi Gemma

It was really great trip, thank you so much for patience – Darren loved it and keen to go back :-)

We had 3 elephants round the car in Manyara – the guide was even taking selfies – and a close encounter with mating lions.

Our day in the Crater was really sunny and the staff at Entamanu could not have been better. Food there was lovely too. We were in the private camp (more like a lodge than a tent) as the main camp was closed for a week of refurb before the Christmas peak season. Multichoice guide and vehicle excellent.

The only downside was KLM luggage… but at least we got them in the end and realised how little stuff we could manage on :-)

We might try to piggy-back Tarangire or Serengeti onto my next work trip but not sure when it is yet.

But I will definitely be back in touch for you to organise us the next one :-)

Have a lovely Christmas, a happy new year and greetings to your mum and dad!

Hi Gemma,

Sorry for the slow reply - we got engaged on the holiday, so you can imagine how hectic it's been since we got back!

Just wanted to say thank you very much for organising it all!

Despite arranging at incredibly last minute, it was the perfect holiday, exactly what we wanted and so much more. We especially appreciate how smoothly it all ran, from the moment we left the UK until the we arrived home, everything linked up perfectly and was zero stress for us.

Again thank you very much for organising it all!

Cheers,

Hi Gemma,

Thanks for checking up on me. The trip went exceedingly well.

I really enjoyed Mwagusi camp and Ruaha in general. The area was beautiful and the guiding was excellent. My highlights was the many leopard sightings which I did not expect.

Selous was also very good. The only minor inconvenience was the unexpected very heavy rains (for the season) which greatly limited the exploration around lake Manze due to the mud but the lodge manager was very accommodating trying to let me have a vehicle (boat or car) on my own as much as possible. The only minor downside was the guiding which did not appear a strong as in Mwagusi.

Having said that, I got a very successful photographic trip. I’ll share some pictures.

Best,

Sebastien

Good morning Gemma

I just posted our review. Apologies it took so long, we have been trying to plan for a Halloween party and get back into the swing of life after marriage.

We had an amazing time in Africa and the places you selected were perfect. We loved our guide at mwagusi (Baldon) he knew everything and was a great person.

We got to see a lot of animals including leopards, honey badgers, and a couple packs of lions. We absolutely loved fly camping in Selous. It rained on us about an hour in, so we definitely have to go back to have the full experience. We are already trying to save up so we can come back to Africa and do trekking with chimpanzee’s.

It will, unfortunately, probably be another few years of saving! We will definitely reach out to you again in the future!

A very special thank you for helping us plan our honeymoon. We had an amazing time!

Hi Gemma/Nick,

Here are my thoughts on Katavi!

This park is amazing and this camp is simply fabulous! Apart from the French film crew of 3, there were only 4 of us staying there and 3 at Chada so we had the park to ourselves. The camp is quite small so provides a really personal and friendly service. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Fabulous views over the plains, super food and being woken up at night by the lions, the hippos, the nightjars or a combination of all three was all part of a wonderful experience. Although finding a scorpion in my bathroom on the last morning was a bit unusual!

Our guide and driver were incredibly knowledgeable and had quite ridiculous eyesight! Spotting a giant eagle owl hidden away in a tree 200 metres away was extraordinary! It took me a a bit of time to find it even with binoculars! The camp is also really well located for the game drives. Most days we came across the people staying at Chada Camp who had a bit of a drive down to areas closer to us for their viewing.

I honestly can’t think of anything negative to say about the 4 nights I spent here other than it wasn’t long enough!

It is a bit of a trek to get to Katavi but so worth it. Stopping off for a few days in Ruaha breaks the journey up nicely. The journey back to Dar was long and pretty tiring. Six flights in all, including 3 stops in Selous. On the last leg from Saadani to Dar, with only two of us left on board, the pilot let me sit next to him and once we were up he switched off the auto pilot and handed controls over to me for 10 minutes!! Not sure who was more scared - the other passenger or me but quite a cool experience!

The highlight for me was certainly the leopard sightings in Katavi. I don’t go out with a wish list of animals I want to see but if I did then leopard would have been top of the list. I feel very fortunate to have spent such a long time with the male. Once you had gout used to the smell, the hippo pools were also quite a special sight and sound. As they were so densely packed together, there was a lot of of aggressive behaviour to watch and listen to. My guide for one day in Ruaha and our guide in Katavi were both brilliant at identifying the birds. I now have a list of 94 birds that were identified (a few only by their call) which is only a fraction of the total number of species there but it adds another level of interest.

I think that’s all from me. I hope some of this is helpful. If there is anything you would like to discuss then please give me a call.

Next stop Botswana!

Kind regards

Hi Gemma

We enjoyed the safari a lot. The location you proposed was excellent. Extremely friendly staff, lot's of fun and incredible service (the food is unbelievable for such a place).

I can really recommend Olakira as a destination.

The trip highlight in Olakira was a river crossing of thousands of Wildebeest. We waited for 7 hours until they finally started the crossing. The previous week's highlight was clearly the Nyiragongo volcano in Congo. An unforgettable experience.

Best regards,

Frank

Hi Gemma,

Thanks for your message, we had the most amazing time, it was very special and many thanks for all your help with putting it together and speedy response to all our questions.

Your suggestion of selous park was perfect for the time we had as it was very private and so varied, we loved it. There are so many highlights it is hard to pick but particularly memorable was seeing an elephant family on our last day and spending an hour watching them drink and cool themselves down and a special honeymoon meal the camp set up for us in the evening.

We were very impressed with Asilia safari company the people were lovely and accommodation was fantastic. It was also great to hear about their values, conservation and community work.

Zanzibar was also beautiful, despite a bit of stormy weather, we had a wonderful time there and were treated like royalty. The Palms is very characterful and so comfortable with the most spectacular views. We also spend a day at the zawadi, the views from there are really something else! I will fill in the review and send some pics separately. Unfortunately it's back to earth with a bump going back to work!

Thanks again Gemma!

Hi Gemma,

Thank you and yes we had an amazing time.

and the Livingston museum. Whilst most people are rightly in awe of the animals the entire reason for the trip was to visit this place.

Iknow my son was really keen on the chimps in Gombe, although his very close encounter with a feeding lioness with cubs may keep him awake for a while yet :)

And whilst both of these were in the last part of the trip it would be unfair to ignore the excellent organisation and hospitality of the Foxes camps. In particular our first guide at Stanley who was excellent and knowledgeable, Humphrey seems to have a fan base from others who’d been to Stanley and met him! Food was very good and the campsites comfortable and more than we expected when considering where they are, especially Katavi.

The organisation was excellent throughout the trip and please don’t apologies about the Air Tanzania part it wasn’t your or the agents fault. As frustrating as it was it got sorted out eventually and Nick and the Mbali Mbali guys sorted it out. No need to follow up from our side as it’s done and we got home on time.

Happy to Trust Pilot for you!

Regards
Gary
