This incredible itinerary takes you to the Virunga Mountains in Rwanda to trek for the majestic mountain gorillas. The experience has been described as humbling, dramatic and simply extraordinary, and when you come within metres of a huge silverback gorillas, you’ll feel the same! After exploring the Virguna Mountains and Rwanda’s capital, Kigali, you will fly to the Serengeti for 3 days of safari activities in the game-filled plains of Africa’s most famous park!

DAY
1

Make your way to Kigali, Rwanda

Met on arrival in Kigali international airport and transferred to the Serena Hotel to stay for 1 night on a B&B basis.

Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, is different to many other African cities. Whilst it is fast-growing, Kigali is also referred to as a ‘garden city’, with quite a relaxed atmosphere. Instead of skyscrapers shaping an intimidating concrete jungle, Kigali’s low-rise buildings, colourful markets and tree-lined avenues attract visitors from across the world to explore what the city offers, especially its history and culture. ‘

DAY
2

Kigali, Rwanda

After breakfast in the hotel, have a guided tour of Kigali and visit the Genocide museum. In the afternoon, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park (which is part of the Virunga Mountains) to stay in Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel for 2 nights on a full board basis.

The Genocide Memorial is one of the most visited landmarks in the city, and rightly so! The memorial is there to not only remind us of the tragic realities that over one million Tutsis and Hutus went through, but also so that visitors can truly see and appreciate just how far the country has moved on together.

DAY
3

Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

Full day gorilla trekking experience! Overnight in Five Volcanoes Boutique Hoetl on a full board basis including gorilla permits and all park fees (tipping is supplemental).

The Volcanoes National Park is the Rwandan part of the Virguna Volcanoes that cover the Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Trekking through the Virunga’s in search of a family of these majestic, endangered gorillas is described as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

DAY
4

Volcanoes National Park/ Kigali

Spend the morning in the lodge in the Volcanoes National Park. After lunch, transfer back to Kigali to stay in the Serena Hotel for 1 night on a B&B basis.

Many of the lodges in the Volcanoes National Park offer a variety of activities for visitors, aside from gorilla tracking. You can trek to see the endemic golden monkeys, visit local communities and projects in the mountains, opt to go on a guided walk or hike, or even climb one of the volcanoes.

DAY
5 - 7

Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Transferred to Kigali airport in time for the Coastal Aviation flight to the Serengeti (location in the Serengeti is dependent on the time of year and where the wildebeest herds are). Met on arrival and transferred to Sanctuary Migration Camp to stay for 3 nights on a full board basis including all game viewing activities.

Arguably the most famous destination for safari in Africa, the vast, open plains of the Serengeti epitomize, for many, what Africa is all about. In the Serengeti National Park the grasslands are roamed by millions of wildebeest, zebra and others, while being stalked by some of the continent’s fiercest predators; the mighty lion, the leopard, the cheetah, to name a few.

DAY
8

Serengeti to Kilimanjaro

Transferred back to the airstrip in time for the Coastal Aviation flight to Kilimanjaro and connect onto international flights home.

Please note that the above is on a full board basis unless otherwise shown and does NOT include international flights.
