Review

This is a charming bush camp in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park. The camp can accommodate a total of 12 people which means it has a cosy and intimate ambiance. The rooms each have a private plunge pool, private verandas and well-appointed bathrooms which makes for a very comfortable stay.

Location

Potato Bush Camp is located in the central area of the park. It is approximately one and a half hours to the camp from Jeki airstrip and this journey can be taken by driving or a combination of driving and boating. The location offers an ease of safari activities including walking safaris, day game drives, night game drives (with sundowners to start the drive), canoeing, fishing and boat safaris.

Layout

The whole camp is linked with raised timber walkways, connecting the main area and each bedroom easily. Potato Bush Camp has three safari tents and a two-bedroom family house so in total, the camp can accommodate approximately 12 people. The main area is a combination of solid walls and floor with a large tented roof. A comfortable lounge area, a small book collection and a bar are all under the tent which makes for a cosy space.

Rooms

The rooms are very spacious but at the same time, still manage to maintain a cosy and authentic feel. The four-poster bed is to the right of the door as you walk in, and in front of that is a sofa and coffee table to relax in. On the other side of the bed is a dining area and an open plan bathroom. Each tent has its own private plunge pool, veranda and outdoor seating area (with huge hammocks or bean bags) which are perfect for a midday siesta.

Activities

The location offers an ease of safari activities including walking safaris, day game drives, night game drives (with sundowners to start the drive), canoeing, fishing and boat safaris. Something that is unique to Potato Bush Camp is that they offer lunches out on the shallow parts in the river – they set up a table and chairs and as you eat your lunch, your feet are dipped into the Zambezi River!
