Review

If you are looking for somewhere completely luxurious, with coffee machines, private plunge pools, huge rooms and air conditioning, this is the place for you! The camp has just had a significant refurbishment so the rooms are simply stunning but the original sausage tree (the one it is named after), is still stood tall in front of the camp.

Location

Sausage Tree Camp is located in the central area of the park. It is approximately one and a half hours to the camp from Jeki airstrip and this journey can be taken by driving or a combination of driving and boating. The location offers an ease of safari activities including walking safaris, day game drives, night game drives (with sundowners to start the drive), canoeing, fishing and boat safaris.

Layout

The camp is extremely spacious and the décor is contemporary and elegant throughout. The main area comprises of a bar, a dining area, a rounded campfire, a small library, and the breakfast bar. This is all sat on a modern and spacious wooden deck, all overlooking the river and the small islands. The signature tents are set along the river but spread out from one another so there is plenty of privacy.

Rooms

The rooms at Sausage Tree Camp have been completely refurbished into luxurious and spacious suites. Each suite sits on a raised wooden platform and inside, a very open-plan design is implemented. The suites have three separated areas – the lounge and dining area, the bedroom, and the bathroom. The deck extends outside, offering a private plunge pool and a seating area with deck chairs. This area is protected by a large canopy and can be closed off with glass sliding doors.

Activities

The location offers an ease of safari activities including walking safaris, day game drives, night game drives (with sundowners to start the drive), canoeing, fishing and boat safaris. Something that is unique to Sausage Tree Camp is that they offer lunches out on the shallow parts in the river – they set up a table and chairs and as you eat your lunch, your feet are dipped into the Zambezi River! Of course shallow and safe areas are strategically picked beforehand!
