Jacana Camp

One of two ‘water’ camps in the Jao Concession, Jacana Camp is situated in the south eastern corner of the Jao Concession and has plenty of charm and character to it.

Tubu and Little Tubu Tree Camps

Located off to the west of the Jao concession, in the north western corner of the Okavango Delta, Tubu Tree Camp and Little Tubu Camp are certainly two of the best and busiest camps in both the concession and the delta.

Kwetsani Camp

Classified as a ‘classic plus’ camp by Wilderness Safaris, Kwetsani is certainly not a huge step down in luxury from the flagship camp in the concession, Jao, but is a step down in price and so, for us, offers very good value for a very luxurious camp.

Jao Camp

The acclaimed jewel in the crown of the concession, Jao Camp has certainly had no expense spared in either the design or the execution. Loosely conceptualised on the dark wood properties of Indonesia, the main areas and the rooms of the camp have a luxurious and decadent feel to them.

DumaTau Camp

The largest of the 4 Wilderness Camps in the Linyanti concession, DumaTau is also their most popular. Part of the reason for this is the stunning location of the camp, right on one of the main channels for the Linyanti.

Savuti Camp

Sitting on the Savuti channel (which is, in effect an overflow for the Linyati and Selinda Spillways (fills in April from Selinda and then from May or so from the Linyanti) this is a much more intimate camp than the others in the concession, with pretty but simple rooms all overlooking the spillway.

King's Pool

One of Wilderness Safari’s flagship properties, King’s Pool, on the Linyanti River Channel, is due to undergo a full refurbishment in 2018 to re-open in June of the same year.

Central Kalahari Game Reserve

Central Kalahari Game Reserve

Currently the largest wildlife reserve in the world, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) is to be experienced to be understood. This is not an area that is teeming with wildlife but is all about vast open expanses and a sense of Africa at its most awe-inspiring. Stretching west to east right across the central section of Botswana, the park plays a major role in shaping the entire country due to the deep Kalahari Sands that provide the core ground coverage.

The Makgadikgadi Salt Pans

The Makgadikgadi Salt Pans

The Nxai, Sua and Ntwetwe salt pans, collectively known as the Kalahari Desert’s Great Salt Pans are the remnants of a prehistoric time when the highland rivers of Angola used to flow all the way to what was one of Africa’s largest lakes, Lake Makgadikgadi. Today, these caustic white dust bowls do still, seasonally, play host to some of Botswana’s largest grazing herds in the form of the zebra and wildebeest migrations along with some or Africa’s hardier and more resilient species such as the oryx.

Kwando, Linyanti and Selinda

Kwando, Linyanti and Selinda

Deserving of a section in its own right, these three private concessions sit between the Kwando and the Chobe Rivers and provide a valuable source of permanent water for northern Botswana and the animals that head north into the Chobe National Park as the Kalahari dries to the south. This is a region of marshland, riparian forest and river systems that have flowed from Angola and flow on to the Chobe River and on to the Zambezi.
