Africa’s tropical waters are home to some of the world’s most interesting and beautiful marine life which attracts thousands of visitors throughout the year. Whether you are an experienced diver or a first-time snorkeler, the Indian Ocean is the perfect place to explore the mysterious underwater world.
There are certain sites that are more popular than others to snorkel and dive in Africa. For example, Mnemba Island off the coast of Zanzibar offers a coral reef, perfect for amateur or beginner divers. Although the day trips (which often include a delicious seafood lunch), are very popular, the waters surrounding the island do get busy as it is a well-known divers hub. Pemba Island, which is north of Zanzibar, is also a great option for divers as it homes a first-class reefs, varying in different depths and currents.
