Review

With privileged access to 65,000 acres of private land, Lewa Safari Camp is a great base to be incredible game viewing and a wealth of other activities. Hosting 10% of Kenya's rhinos, Lewa Conservancy, its guides and its rangers all work together to protect the endangered species and the other wildlife it famously homes.

Location

The Lewa Conservancy is located in central Kenya and covers a huge 65,000 acres of vast wilderness. Lewa homes incredible views of Mount Kenya, and the arid lands of Tassia and Il Ngwesi. The conservancy is home to an incredible amount of game, particularly famous for its two endangered species - the grevy's zebra and the black rhino. The conservancy is fenced and employs over 150 rangers to protect the 10% Kenya's rhinos that live here.

Layout

Lewa Safari Camp has 11 ensuite tents which can be double or twin occupancy. The main dining area offers guests to eat separately, or join other guests in the true 'safari experience'. The menu is set daily and offers an Italian cuisine, with produce sourced locally. The camp has a pool within the green gardens and has sunbeds under shade, bar service, board games and table tennis on offer.

Rooms

The tents are extremely spacious, with a large bedroom, an ensuite bathroom and a spacious veranda overlooking the extensive views of Lewa Conservancy. The rooms are thatch-covered and have a simple and elegant 'safari feel' to them, with light fabrics and warm coloured pillows and lamps. The camp has now two Family Tents which are ideal for families with children as two tents are joined together under a thatched roof, with a private veranda and sitting area on offer.

Activities

Lewa Safari Camp offers a wide range of activities for guests including game drives, guided bush walks, bush breakfasts, sundowners, spa treatments, horse riding and camel riding! Te Lewa Safari Camp guides are based in camp within Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, and are some of the best guides in the country. Most are from neighbouring local communities and have been guiding within the Conservancy for many years, some for over 15 years.
