Africa’s spectacular landscapes are the perfect backdrop to hone your photography skills. Whether you are a professional or amateur photographer, thousands of visitors head out to the game-filled plains of Africa with their cameras to try to capture the incredible movements, lights and memorable moments whilst out on safari.

Whether it is nature photography of a ferocious lion kill, the smallest indigenous bird, or the wildebeest herds in their thousands, or portrait photography of the local Masai people; the practice and outcome of documenting life in Africa with photography can be extremely rewarding.

More and more of the properties in Africa are recognising the need to help and support photographers with their hobby. Some camps have specialist equipment that can be hired during your stay, whilst others have specialist vehicles for supporting your own lenses and equipment. Some camps also offer photography workshops or specialist trips run by professional photographers or videographers to offer expert advice on where photos and techniques can be improved.

Kenya is home to the BBC’s famous Big Cat Diaries, and as a country prolifically filmed and photographed, it is definitely the perfect destination to head to if you are a keen photographer. Please see the specific Kenya photography page below.
