Review

As this property is part of the Tanganyika Wilderness portfolio, it is no surprise it offers a great experience for a great price! Located in the highlands of Ngorongoro in the expansive of a 500-acre coffee plantation. Although you do not get views of the crater itself, the surroundings of the highlands are vast and lush and the with temperatures warmer than the properties on the crater rim, you will be able to fully enjoy the swimming pool and gardens on offer.

Location

This property sits in the highlands of Ngorongoro in northern Tanzania. Often combined with a northern itinerary (including Lake Manyara, Tarangire and the Serengeti National Park), this is a perfect location for those looking to spend two nights in the Ngorongoro conservation area and take in the beautiful landscape and tropical feel it has.

Layout

Ngorongoro Farmhouse is made of 52 chalet type rooms (all are standard with the exception of 3 which are suites). The main building homes the lounge area and the restaurant which leads out to the swimming pool and gardens. Almost all of the fresh vegetables that are served in your meals throughout the day are lovingly grown in the farm’s gardens.

Rooms

The rooms themselves are very traditional in the décor and design. They are generous in size and the bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms are well-appointed. The four-poster beds and dark wooden furniture give the rooms an old colonial farm vibe. The materials are locally sourced which adds to the overall authenticity of the property.

Activities

The main draw to this property is of course, to see the famous Ngorongoro Crater. Most guests will have their own private vehicle/guide to do the game drive descent - observing the fauna which gathers on the vast meadows of the crater floor. As the property is located in the highlands, other activities are possible if time permits – such as trekking in the Ngorongoro Conservation area and cultural and tribal visits.
