About the location
Nyungwe House sits in the southwestern region of Rwanda, in the stunning Nyungwe National Park. The park itself is the largest mountain rainforest on the entire African continent, home to 13 different species of primate and an impressive 275 species of bird. The roads in Rwanda are pretty good and it is approximately a 5-hour journey from Kigali, with a quarter of that time spent driving through the luscious national park.

Wildlife & Activities at One & Only Nyungwe House
The main draw to Nyungwe National Park is the chimpanzee and colobus monkey trekking. The trek itself has a maximum of 8 people per tour and needs to be booked in advance for a particular day. The treks are authentically wild so although it is unlikely not to see them, primate viewing cannot be guaranteed. Another huge benefit of this park in terms of its wildlife is the birding…the park is truly a birders paradise!
Back at the house, there are activities that aim to bring you as close to nature and the beauty of Nyungwe as possible; yoga sessions, hilltop archery, nature walks, community participation, nature’s boot camp, an African tea demonstration and many more. There is plenty to keep you occupied.
