Where to Stay

One & Only Nyungwe House

from $1,735 per person per night for 2026/27

A stunning house surrounded by picturesque mountain rainforests

This is certainly the most luxurious choice of accommodation in Nyungwe National Park, if not all of Rwanda! Nyungwe House has everything you need - to do as much as you'd like, or as little as you'd like! Go trekking with the chimps and colobus monkey's, enjoy nature walks, tackle boot camp and yoga or try spear throwing with the experts. Alternatively, you can watch an African tea demonstration, enjoy the spa and wellness centre or just take a leisure swim in the infinity pool overlooking the view filled with a variety of green tones.

Plenty to do, variety of activities and facilities

Luxury comes at a price!

About the location

Nyungwe House sits in the southwestern region of Rwanda, in the stunning Nyungwe National Park. The park itself is the largest mountain rainforest on the entire African continent, home to 13 different species of primate and an impressive 275 species of bird. The roads in Rwanda are pretty good and it is approximately a 5-hour journey from Kigali, with a quarter of that time spent driving through the luscious national park.

Do see Parks & Regions on this page.

lodge Layout

The house has 3 suites and 5 villas which are positioned in a semi-circle formation with the main house facilities in the central area. Guests are welcome to the lounge, bar, dining room, boardroom, bar deck, fitness centre, spa and infinity pool at any point. Set further out from the main area is the Gisakura Tea Plantation with stunning views across to the tea plantation.

One & Only Nyungwe House Accomodation

The rooms at Nyungwe House capture the mountainous landscape. The interior design is soft and has comforting features such as the fireplace, a replenished mini-bear, air conditioning, a spacious en-suite with twin vanities, a wilderness-view shower and a luxurious stand-alone bath. The rooms have wooden decks/verandas which look out to the vivid sights and sounds of the forest.

Wildlife & Activities at One & Only Nyungwe House

The main draw to Nyungwe National Park is the chimpanzee and colobus monkey trekking. The trek itself has a maximum of 8 people per tour and needs to be booked in advance for a particular day. The treks are authentically wild so although it is unlikely not to see them, primate viewing cannot be guaranteed. Another huge benefit of this park in terms of its wildlife is the birding…the park is truly a birders paradise!

Back at the house, there are activities that aim to bring you as close to nature and the beauty of Nyungwe as possible; yoga sessions, hilltop archery, nature walks, community participation, nature’s boot camp, an African tea demonstration and many more. There is plenty to keep you occupied.
