About the Baraza Resort & Spa location
Sitting on the south easterly coast of Zanzibar, Baraza has an enviable position with white, coral sand beaches running both northwards and to the south.
This stretch of beach is one of the quieter on the island and so, with shallow water suited to snorkelling among reef fish, starfish and small coral patches, while boat excursions reach reefs where green turtles, dolphins, reef sharks and rays are regularly seen. Diving trips can access deeper coral slopes where Manta Rays and, during migration, humpback whales may appear. Kayaking and paddle‑boarding are often possible in calm lagoon conditions, adding gentle adventure to the area’s romantic coastal setting.
On the more critical side, the strong tidal range limits swimming for long periods, and the expansive resort layout may feel spread out for guests preferring a more compact environment.
Baraza Resort & Spa Layout
As mentioned above, Baraza is a fairly large property featuring around 45 rooms, but, with its spread out location and enormous rooms, with self-contained pool and diving areas, it does not feel so large.
In fact, with great service and food, it really is quite surprising that you don’t notice the numbers of other people.

Baraza Resort & Spa Accomodation
Each of the villas has been hand designed and built to the highest specifications, featuring a subdued Arabic style, using marble, copper and dark woods throughout.
Add in the special features such as private plunge pools, carved lamp shades and delicate lighting and there is very little to fault.
