Where to Stay

Toka Leya Camp

from $1,145 per person per night for 2026/27

Relaxed luxury on the banks of the Zambezi

Designed along the lines of a luxury safari camp, Toka Leya sits approximately 30 minutes drive upriver from the famous “smoke that thunders” or Victoria Falls. Celebrating its 10th year in 2018, Toya Leya offers a different type of experience to the properties that are located close to the falls (and some of those that are located away, in that the concept here is that a visit to the falls is part of the experience but not the only experience to have while here. The property offers plenty of activities including game driving in the Mosi-ao-Tunya National Park, cruising out on the Zambezi and generally relaxing with the sounds of the water flowing past.

About the location

Located approximately 20 kilometres upriver from the main falls, right on the flowing waters of the Zambezi, Toka Leya is a great place to come for a few days either before or after your safari to relax and unwind.

As mentioned above, the onus here includes accessing the famous waterfalls but it is also on the generous space that each room is afforded, the sumptuous meals that are offered and the many other activities that bring the place and the staff to life.

Do see Parks & Regions on this page.

camp Layout

The large tents are spread out along the river front from the main swimming pool and dining areas. For those that are not wanting to spend too much time walking back and forth it is definitely worth requesting a room in the lower numbers as, with the furthest rooms taking a few minutes to walk to and from, the price that is paid for relative privacy may not sui everyone.

For us, however, this feeling of being alone with the river is definitely a big plus point and the occasionaly additional walk is welcome after the long hours in the back of a safari vehicle!

Toka Leya Camp Accomodation

The conception of the rooms is firmly aimed at “safari”, with vast canvas tents, all featuring airconditioning, stretching out to the river in front. With a good sized shower, both inside and outside, a comfortable decking area with sunken sofa area, and plenty of room, the rooms are what you would expect of Wilderness Safaris.

Wildlife & Activities at Toka Leya Camp

As mentioned, one of the main benefits of being away from the main areas around Victoria Falls is that it is possible to combine a visit to the falls with plenty of other activities. These include boat trips at sundown, massages, visits to Mosi oa Tunya National Park and general relaxation.
