About the location
Being located outside of the National Park does mean that there is a short drive to get into the park in the mornings but this area of the park is so quiet that you will be unlucky to see another vehicle on a game drive.
The game at this end is definitely not as prevalent as it is down at the Kasane end but between the months of April and November, when the river full, the game viewing up here as excellent.

lodge Layout
Located atop the escarpment that is set around 500 meters above the Chobe river affords the property some of the best views you will get anywhere in Botswana and the rooms are located to make the most of it, thankfully!
The 11 thatched rooms are spaced on either side of the main area and pool. There is a bit of a walk to get to each and so you need some company at night but this spacing allows for a more private experience with that view and the nature that surrounds the camp.

Muchenje Safari Lodge Accomodation
Each of the thatched cottages offers a stunning view out to the valley floor and has a private deck where you can sit with a quiet book and a pair of binoculars during the day. The rooms have been decorated in earthy tones and have a comfortable while not overly ostentatious feel to them. Most are fitted with a shower but some offer a bath as well.

Wildlife & Activities at Muchenje Safari Lodge
As with many other properties in the Chobe region, the main focus for the property is on the boating safaris although, due to the location of the pontoons and the range of the waters of the Chobe, outside of the main season (between June and October) it is necessary to drive the hour or so back to Kasane to board a boat there for the cruise.
During the season there is a new pontoon on the western side of the national park that can be accessed but for those that want to have a true river experience, the camp location does throw in a few restrictions.
