A brief Overview of Saadani National Park
Only recently declared as a national park in its own right, Saadani has suffered greatly over the years through poaching and general neglect, rendering it one of the least visited parks in Tanzania. In the late 1990’s, however, this view and attitude towards the park changed and a huge effort was made to both grow the size of the park, but to involve local communities in protecting it.
The Saadani of today is a transformed place and the stature of it has grown hugely with quite a few quality lodges springing up and some reliable game sightings being reported. On the whole, this is not really seen as a park for those looking for big game, but more of a taster for those that may not be able to afford a longer and more remote park.

Activities in Saadani National park
One of the big plusses of Saadani is that it offers a wide range of activities such as walking safaris, boating trips along the Wami River, and standard game viewing by Landcruiser. Taking into account its location right on the shores of the Indian Ocean and that it is also a very short hop from here to Zanzibar Island, it makes this a really good option for many who are wanting to have a short safari “experience” without breaking the bank.

Best time to visit Saadani National Park
Picking the best time to visit Saadani is a bit more complex than for many other areas as it is both a game viewing destination as well as a beach location. As a rule of thumb, the dry season, between June and November are probably the most popular months but, with the Kusi winds along the coast, the seas tend to be a bit choppier.

As much as AI has changed the way we all approach our lives, there is still no substitute for picking up the phone and having a chat through the options with one of us on +44 1525 840 149
This allows us to completely tailor the property choices, costs and itinerary length to your needs…but we also understand that this is not always possible with the busy lives we all lead.
With this in mind, we have also put together a safari finder tool that should help you to narrow down the initial stages at which point we can jump in to “round off the edges” as it were.
Alternatively please feel free to >send us an email with your timings, group size and rough likes and dislikes and we can get the ball rolling.
