A brief Overview of Kampala
There is quite a lot going on in Kampala. Of course, the usual hustle and bustle of an African capital city is there, but the city also has some lively night life, with jazz bars and really good restaurants, encouraging tourists to stay a night.
Although it is the country’s capital city, most tourists will fly into and out of Entebbe due to the preferable connection times and international flight routings available. The two cities are relatively close so it is easily possible to road transfer between them but for those wanting to experience Ugandan city life we would probably err on the side of Entebbe.
For accommodation, we highly recommend Latitude 0 which sits up on the highest hill of Kampala, overlooking the bright lights below.

Best time to visit Kampala
As with the main destinations in Eastern Africa, Kampala is best visited during the drier months of June to September and again between January and March. At a little over 1,100 meters above sea level, it is worth noting that evenings can be chilly throughout the year.
Do see our interactive best time to visit Kampala guide on this page as well as on our parent guide to uganda page for more in-depth information on when to go.

Need more help?
As much as AI has changed the way we all approach our lives, there is still no substitute for picking up the phone and having a chat through the options with one of us on +44 1525 840 149
This allows us to completely tailor the property choices, costs and itinerary length to your needs…but we also understand that this is not always possible with the busy lives we all lead.
With this in mind, we have also put together a safari finder tool that should help you to narrow down the initial stages at which point we can jump in to “round off the edges” as it were.
Alternatively please feel free to send us an email with your timings, group size and rough likes and dislikes and we can get the ball rolling.
