Abu Camp

Located on the western side of the Okavango Delta, Abu’s Concession is well placed at the heart of the delta and benefits from both water and land based activities between May and November. This is an area that has long been known for its good hyena populations and, today, there are reliable wild dog sightings as well as a few resident lion prides and leopard. The camp is loosely focussed around a lake watering hole which brings is a wide variety of bird life in particular. The main areas are a series of decks at different levels and, as such, there is feeling of being able to find secluded nook for yourself if needed or being able to join others on the viewing platforms and fire pit at the front. The rooms were modernised fairly recently and, while the Botswana winter time can get cool at night, we would probably argue that this is the biggest fault in the property, for some reason they have designed the rooms using single layered canvas which means that, in the heat of the day, the rooms to become pretty hot inside, particularly if you want to visit in the fringe months of October and November. They are, however, vast and all feature a plunge pool out the front so will certainly satiate the ‘luxury’ box for most. Do see Best Safaris & Holidays on this page.

As mentioned, the property offers a wide variety of activities to choose from. The main of these is, without doubt, the reason for the camp being able to price itself at the level it does and allows you to have a direct interaction with the small herd of elephant that are resident.
