A brief Overview of Amboseli National Park
Nestled right on the border between Kenya and Tanzania this arid and, at times, unwelcoming park is home to some of the greatest elephant herds in Africa with some of the last great “tusker” males wandering across its plains.
Meaning “salty dust” in Maasai, the park generally lives up to its name but provides the perfect habitat for a wide variety of birds and also boasts cheetah, lion, hippo, oryx, gerenuk and elephant shrew amongst the numerous Umbrella thorn trees. While it can be busy in the high season, there are quite a few lodges that are based either on the periphery of the park or just outside it, in private concessions. These lodges are perfect for a few nights to have a look around, and with direct flights to the Mara, it is a great way to combine other parks.

Best time to visit Amboseli National Park
As with most of the parks in East Africa, any time between the short (November to December) and long (April to June) rainy periods are seen to be best for seeing wildlife in general. For the elephants, it has been recorded that towards the end of the main dry season, in October, the elephants have been known to move elsewhere for lack of food supply.

Need more help?
As much as AI has changed the way we all approach our lives, there is still no substitute for picking up the phone and having a chat through the options with one of us on +44 1525 840 149
This allows us to completely tailor the property choices, costs and itinerary length to your needs…but we also understand that this is not always possible with the busy lives we all lead.
With this in mind, we have also put together a safari finder tool that should help you to narrow down the initial stages at which point we can jump in to “round off the edges” as it were.
Alternatively please feel free to send us an email with your timings, group size and rough likes and dislikes and we can get the ball rolling.
