Lewa House

Lewa House is situated in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, with views of Mount Kenya, the Matthews Range and the sacred mountains of the Ol Olokwe to the north. Since 1924, the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy has been a key environment in protecting the black rhinos, and since has become a hub of wildlife, including good elephant numbers, lion, buffalo and the sometimes, sightings of the illusive African wild dogs.

On top of a hill, Lewa House is a beautiful and spacious farm house. The heart of Lewa House comprises of a cosy lounge with a roaring, open fireplace at one end, and a large family dining table at the other, perfect for delicious evening meals, hosted by the owners, Calum and Sophie. The property also has a swimming pool overlooking a waterhole for guests to enjoy in the heat of the day!

There are seven cottage-style rooms spread out generously along the hillside, as well as recently added “earth pods” for guests to stay in. These pods have been cleverly designed by Sophie’s father, and have been architecturally blended into the landscape, with unique curved walls and outdoor baths.

As Lewa House is sat in a conservancy, there are a range of activities that guests can do, including day and night game drives, guided game walks with Calum, conservation and community work such as a visit to the anti-poaching tracker dogs and sponsored local schools, horse riding, camel rides, and cultural trips.
