About the location
Satao Camp sits in the heart of Tsavo East National Park in southern Kenya. The park homes a variety of animals, but is famous for its large herds of elephant and buffalo (up to 1000 at a time)! Game drives in the camp are offered morning and afternoon, and drive mostly around the Voi River and the Aruba Dam.

camp Layout
The camp is made of 20 tents which are all positioned semi-circular to have views of the camps’ central watering hole. There are 16 family tents and 4 suites, each with its own small veranda with patio and chairs.
Lunch is served around the waterhole and dinner in the restaurant lounge area in the evening. After dinner, the camp encourages guest to join each other around the camp fire and watch the animals “by night” from the observation tower!

Satao Camp Accomodation
As much of the buildings across East Africa, the tents have a makuti roofing, which is thatching made from sun-dried leaves of the coconut palm. The tents themselves are very spacious and each have en-suites with running water and flushing toilets. The showers are true safari style bucket showers, whereby the camp stuff bring hot water in the evening. Wildlife & Activities at Satao Camp
Satao offers game drives to see the wildlife and is also a haven for bird lovers! The guides at the camp live in Tsavo and are very knowledgeable, more likely to know the whereabouts of the big five and the names of the myriad of birds that live in the park. The camp also offers sundowners in special spots around the park to watch the beautiful African sunset with a glass of bubbly and some tasty nibbles in hand.
