An intimate safari lodge on the banks of the River Nile

Baker’s Lodge is part of the Exclusive Camps and, as all of the other lodges in this portfolio, it offers an authentic, intimate and professional experience. The lodge itself sits on the southern bank of the River Nile, with a huge variety of birds, bathing elephants and pods of hippo seen regularly from the main area and your private verandas!

About the location

Baker’s Lodge is located on a private area of the southern bank, just outside of Murchison Falls National Park. The safaris in Murchison are done in the northern part of the park so transfers to this area will be arranged to then start your game drive.

The lodge itself sits on the same level as the River Nile so you feel you are really immersed in the river experience!

The lodge’s main area is a raised wooden platform, comprising of the bar area, a lounge area and the restaurant space (although they are flexible as to where you can have dinner). The lodge has an inviting swimming pool, and stone paths between here, the main area and the rooms.

Baker’s Lodge Accomodation

The rooms at Baker’s Lodge are very spacious and comfortable. The rooms have raised ceilings, supported with wooden beams and thatch material. Each room has a large bed with mosquito nets, a well-appointed en-suite bathroom and a veranda with comfortable chairs, offering views out to the Nile.

Wildlife & Activities at Baker’s Lodge

Safaris in Murchison Falls National Park are the most popular excursion and definitely recommended. As well as elephant, lion, hippo, crocodile and a variety of antelope, you will have some phenomenal birding; there are over 450 birds found in this area, including the famous Shoebill.

You can also do boat safaris, hikes to the Murchison Falls, fishing and chimpanzee trekking in Budongo Forest (approx. 1.5 hours drive from Baker’s).
