Where to Stay

DumaTau Camp

from $4,325 per person per night for 2026/27

A larger camp with stunning views across the Linyanti

The largest of the 4 Wilderness Camps in the Linyanti concession, DumaTau is also their most popular. Part of the reason for this is the stunning location of the camp, right on one of the main channels for the Linyanti. The main area of the lodge opens out to a pontoon walkway and fire pit where, in the evenings, guests are encouraged to sit looking up at the stars and listening to the night chorus of frogs and the occasional splash of a crocodile! For us, if you are after an experience of what the Linyanti Concession is about and can’t afford the prices of King’s Pool, then this is a great choice.

Lovely views and pontoon. Good value.

Very spread out and pretty large camp

About the location

As aforementioned, DumaTau sits overlooking one of the main channels of the Linyanti River, as it wends it way towards Zambia and the mighty Chobe River.

This stunning area of Botswana offers something a little more intimate than the region around Kasane and the Chobe, as there is more game inland but also more of a delta experience along the river with reed frogs and water birds to keep the interest.

camp Layout

With the camp having 10 tents and 2 family rooms, it is certainly one of the largest in the concession and, as such, things can feel a bit spaced apart. There is a plan to introduce a second swimming pool to then layout as, with the walk currently at around 5 minutes from the main area, if you are in one of the further rooms you could be looking at a round trip of 15 minutes to go for a dip or to regain your suntan lotion!

Other than this, the space between the tents affords the camp a spacious and seclude feel which could be an issue with a camp of this size. With reviews from clients always being very good, it does not seem to be a real issue.

DumaTau Camp Accomodation

As with most of Wilderness’ properties, the large canvas tents that are used here, with balconies overlooking the river, are well proportioned and have everything that you would need for a few nights…large, comfortable beds, great views and spacious balconies right on the water’s edge.

Wildlife & Activities at DumaTau Camp

A good deal of the game in the Linyanti concession is situated along the river from and so there is plenty of game to be seen inland as well as out on the water.

As with King’s Pool, the property offers barge cruises as well as standard game drives throughout the year. On top of this, as with Savuti, they also offer a night under the stars on a raised platform which is well worth considering.
