Lake Manyara Tree Lodge

A stunning property with a series of rooms on stilts, set out amongst the forests to the west of Lake Manyara. As you drive down through Lake Manyara National Park there is a rapid change of environment from the natural forests in the north, to the barren, scrubby and boulder strewn regions further south.

Coming over a rocky rise you are then confronted with virgin forest once more, and it is in this cool and serene environment that Manyara Treelodge lies.

The communal areas of the camp also have a great little barbeque area out in front of the lounge and dining area and, with a small swimming pool. pretty much everything is covered. The only drawback that we would note is that there are no real views out to the lake…but this is a very small point.

Each of the rooms sits at around 10 feet above the forest floor and has a large balcony running along the outside, with a small table and chairs in which to really soak up the atmosphere.

The room interiors wonderfully bring the exterior inside with opening doors and screens that allow the flow of air. Moreover, by using luxurious fixtures and furniture, you are made to feel as comfortable as is possible.

Lake Manyara National Park is often overlooked as a park. Part of this is that it is sandwiched between the Rift Escarpment and the soda lake that is Lake Manyara and, therefore, the drives tend to be into and back out of the park.

But, for those that commit to spending some time down in the southern regions of the park, there is some really great game viewing to be had ranging from plentiful birds of prey to the famous tree climbing lions of the “maji moto” pride.
