Where to Stay

Roho ya Selous

from $1,210 per person per night for 2026/27

A stunning luxury tented camp in Nyerere!

Roho ya Selous breaks the mold for safari camps in Nyerere National Park to a certain degree as the camps is located to the north of the river system, in an area that is known for good game viewing. Owned and managed by Asilia Lodges, the camp offers the quality of experience that its sister properties throughout Tanzania do. Its location is enough to tempt guests in, but its luxurious and beautifully-designed accommodation makes it competitive with other high-end properties in the park.

It is located in the best area of the Selous for game

As the newest and most luxurious, it has quite a high price tag!

About the location

Perched on a small hill overlooking the mighty Rufiji River, Roho ya Selous sits in one of the best areas for wildlife in the park.

Nearby, resident hippo and crocodile are heard and seen on a regular basis on Lake Manze and Lake Nzerakera. With only a 20 minute drive from the airstrip, the camps location makes it accessible for a variety of game viewing activities such as walking, boating and driving.

hotel Layout

The main mess area of the camp homes a cosy lounge with a roaring fireplace taking centre stage for cooler evenings. For accommodation, Roho ya Selous has eight canvassed, spacious tents which are spread out along the thicket, perfect for embracing safari life and having your own privacy.

Roho ya Selous Accomodation

As the name translates to the “the heart of the Selous” (the former name for the park), the idea behind the design of the camp is to mix both indoor and outdoor living.

The rooms all have running hot and cold water, an indoor and outdoor shower, and even air conditioning for the warmer months. Each of tents have a private, shady veranda to relax on at the end of an exciting day!

Wildlife & Activities at Roho ya Selous

There is a wide variety of activities that Roho ya Selous offer and the beauty is that guests can “mix and match” every day, from a choice of game drives, walking safaris and boating safaris.

Guests can also combine a boat safari with an hour or so bit of catch and release fishing, and the rivers home good populations of tiger fish as well as catfish.
