Sand Rivers Selous

Set out to the west of the park (in the northern, safari region of the Selous), Sand Rivers enjoys a privileged position, away from the relatively busier central areas around Lake Manze and Lake Siwandu.

The camp itself sits right on a crook in the river as it meaders its way East and so affords one of the very best views that a safari can offer.

The camp itself now offers a range of different variations to clients. The main camps is still going strong with its fantastic chalets looking directly onto the water. While they are not vast in size, there is no doubt that they are large enough and the views certainly make up for any shortcomings otherwise.

For those looking for a more secluded experience the nearby Kiba House is also an option with its 4 rooms and private swimming pool.

The suite rooms, located up on the hill, are for those wanting to get away from the main camp and feature wonderfully open rooms with lounge areas and private plunge pools. The view from up here is simply outstanding and while a bit of a walk to the main areas, is definitely worth the exercise.

Finally, Sand Rivers now offers the Rhino House and Kiba point….one being a private house and the other a private camp with 4 suites. Both of these are ideal for those looking to have a camp to themselves and feature private guides and activities that are not tied to the main camp.

From a game point of view, this is one of our favourite regions of the park. Being on the river obviously allows for plenty of water activities, but there are also some interesting “bai” areas nearby where game tends to congregate in the dry season. (arguably earlier in the season between June and September) All in all a great camp!
