About the location
The Highlands Camp is set in the Ngorongoro Highlands, approximately 40 kilometres north of the Ngorongoro Crater, sitting on the edge of the mountain forest next to the Olmoti Volcano. It is the highest-altitude property in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, so it goes without saying that they are blessed with incredible views, seen from both the guest domes and main areas.

camp Layout
The camp is spread out along the tops of a mountain forest. The dome tents are approximately 15-20 metres apart from one another offering privacy and peacefulness, which was the camps main aim as its location strived towards seclusion.

Highlands Camp Accomodation
The camp has 8 “dome suites” that sit apart from one another in the thicket. The domes are predominantly made of canvas, with a large curved perspex “window” overlooking spectacular views. They each have their own en-suite with a modern design, hot running water, showers and flushing toilets.
The beds are king-sized, and to top off the comfort and crank up the cosyness, there are wood-burning stoves that can be used for cooler evenings.

Wildlife & Activities at Highlands Camp
Of course, game drives and crater descents are offered – a highlight for the majority! They also offer Olmoti nature walks and climbs (an ancient Maasai cattle trail through mountain forest and rocky outcrops), decents into the Empakaai crater (a nearby crater that is famous for its pink flamingo), and community and cultural visits to see the local Masaai villages.
