A brief Overview of Lower Zambezi National Park
The pace of the Lower Zambezi is more relaxed than other parks both in Zambia and elsewhere in Africa and, as such, it is a great place to put into an itinerary to have some “down time” to float along the river in a canoe or lunch on a sandbank with the water flowing over your feet while watching the elephant swim.
The real strength of the park is in ist variety of topography with tall African mahoganies along the waters edge giving way to more open grasslands along the escarpment and, of course, the meandering Zambezi river. This is a stunning location for a few nights!

Best time to visit Lower Zambezi National Park
Game viewing in the Lower Zambezi is seasonal, with the best period between the months of June and October. The weather during these months is warm and dry, and as a result, the animals emerge from the high-temperature bush areas to concentrate around the Zambezi in large numbers. The period between November and April is the wet season and the majority of camps, and the scheduled internal flights are not operating.
