About the location
Chiawa Camp is set on the banks of the mighty Zambezi. This area offers fantastic game viewing opportunities, with elephant, buffalo, waterbuck, hippo and crocodiles seen daily. There is a pride of 14 lion that have now split into three groups who are seen regularly, one of which is called the Chongwe Boys (although they have now moved up closer to the Jeki area).

camp Layout
The main area at Chiawa Camp is a two-storey open building, homing two cosy lounge areas and a bar downstairs, and a third comfortable seating area and viewing deck on the upstairs level.
The camp has a swimming pool and small gym which is the other side of the main area, a peaceful spot to relax at. There is a separate dining area which overlooks the river with its open-plan design and dinners are enjoyed communally with all of the guests (or mostly split into two tables if the camp is full).

Chiawa Camp Accomodation
The six rooms at Chiawa Camp are sat on raised wooden platforms and feature wide verandas overlooking the river (there is land between the rooms and river which is quite nice as the animals wander across). The tents each have a sofa/lounge area facing out towards the veranda, a desk and a large double, or twin beds. Located behind the bed are an open-plan changing area and the bathroom, with twin sinks, a free-standing bath and a shower and toilet (separated by zipped canvas).

Wildlife & Activities at Chiawa Camp
Its location on the banks of the river mean that guests can benefit from a range of game viewing activities including canoe trips, river safaris, fishing trips, bush walks and night drives. The guides at Chiawa are fantastic, full of knowledge, experience and boundless enthusiasm. We were completely impressed, we saw two leopards within 5 hours of being at Chiawa Camp!
