Chongwe River House

Chongwe River House is only a 5-minute drive from Chongwe Camp, but they are two completely independent and self-sufficient camps.

The house is located on a tranquil stretch of the Chongwe River with a dramatic, mountainous backdrop. Winterthorn trees surround the house so elephants are often found wandering this area which is always a nice visitor to have!

The house has two bedrooms, one on the ground floor and one on the upper floor. The house can accommodate groups from around 4 to 8 perfectly and the house, its staff and its activities are all on a private basis. The house has a private pool, its own bar, a dining and lounge area and of course, two stunning en-suite bedrooms, each with open air bathrooms.

Both bedrooms are similar in style; they both beautifully combine the indoor and outdoor space with flowing curves, open-air bathrooms, and open plan rooms that look (and walk out) out to the wilderness.

Of course in the evening, ropes are laid across for safety but throughout the day, an open-plan and open-air feel can be enjoyed.

As Chongwe River House is on a private basis, all of your safari activities are offered with a private vehicle and driver/guide. You can enjoy game drives (day and night), walking safaris, boat cruises, fishing and canoeing (which is exhilarating)!

Guests at the House are also able to use the nearby photographic hide which is part of Chongwe River Camp.
