Where to Stay

Chongwe River Camp

from $990 per person per night for 2026/27

A stylish camp with beautiful views out to the Chongwe River

Chongwe River Camp is a luxurious camp that sits on the confluence of the Zambezi and Chongwe River. Although the camp is outside of the national park, there is still resident game to be seen from camp and there are a variety of safari activities to enjoy. The camp has a pool, open-air bathrooms and a simple but elegant feel to it.

Stylish and great value for money

About the location

This camp sits in the western boundary just outside of the Lower Zambezi National Park. The park is unfenced so there is still plenty resident wildlife in this area. That said, the vegetation is thicker so Chongwe do drive into the park which adds a little time. As with many of the camps in this area, Chongwe River Camp is focused on the view out to the Zambezi River and the smaller tributary, the Chongwe River.

Do see Parks & Regions on this page.

camp Layout

Chongwe River Camp is formed of eight safari suites and two larger family or honeymoon suites. The rooms are spread along from the main area and each look out to the river. The main area is spacious, with different seating areas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, sundowners, coffee, afternoon tea… you name it! There is a pool in the middle of the camp, set a little further back from the camp.

Chongwe River Camp Accomodation

Chongwe Camp offer a range of activities both land and water based. The land activities include day and night game drives (which are done inside the national park) and walking safaris. The walks focus on the smaller things and the landscape of the foothills of the Zambezi escarpment and Rift Valley are beautiful. On the river, you can do boat safaris, canoeing and fishing.

Do see Best Safaris & Holidays on this page.

Wildlife & Activities at Chongwe River Camp

Being located out on the Western fringes of the park allow Chongwe a bit of flexibility with the activities it can offer whihc include walking, driving, boating and canoeing on the river.

The game around here is still as good as it is further into the park and, as mentioned, with its isolated position, it benefits from having much of it to itself.
