Where to Stay

Kapamba Bush Camp

from $955 per person per night for 2026/27

A colourful, luxurious camp sitting on the Kapamba riverbed

Situated in the remote, southern area of South Luangwa National Park, Kapamba Camp is a small and intimate camp with colourful soft furnishings. The camp itself is stylish and modern, with open-fronted chalets and enormous bathtubs with private views onto the Kapamba riverbed.

Remote area with good game, activities and far from crowds

The open chalets may not be for everyone

About the location

Sat in the remote corner of the South Luangwa National Park, on the banks of the seasonal Kapamba River. The area boasts isolation and exclusivity, along with fantastic game viewing opportunities.

There is a resident pride of 5 strong female lions called the Kapamba pride which are regularly seen. Game drives through the miombo woodlands and dry riverbeds are interesting and lions, elephant, buffalo, impala and giraffe are seen on a daily basis.

Do see Parks & Regions on this page.

camp Layout

The camp is made of four stone chalets and a spacious main area. The main area features a bar, lounge area and dining room, which are all connected and are located under a group of matumi and sausage trees.

Bordering this area is a wide viewing deck, where views out to the Kapamba River can be enjoyed from comfortable bean bags; something that all Bushcamp Company camps seem to have!

Kapamba Bush Camp Accomodation

Kapamba Camp has four luxury stone chalets which are all en-suite and feature enormous stone bathtubs, king-size beds and private verandas. If that wasn’t enough, the rooms are completely open at the front during the day, which is a perfect combination of the wild African bush, and the luxury and comfort of your private chalet.

In months of high temperatures such as October and November, a little tip is to fill the bath up with cold water which then acts as a private plunge pool!

Wildlife & Activities at Kapamba Bush Camp

Being located in the remote, southern area of the park, the game viewing activities at Kapamba Camp will feel exclusive, with few other vehicles or people in sight!

The camp, as with the majority of camps in South Luangwa, encourage guests to explore the rich diversity of the area on foot. Walking safaris are often recommended in the morning when the temperature is cooler, and then later in the afternoon or at night, game drives are offered to explore the wider surrounding area. It is also possible to walk between some of its sister camps, such as Bilimungwe to the east.
