Where to Stay

Breezes Beach Club & Spa

from $352 per person per night for 2026/27

A great, larger hotel for those after facilities and a great beach...

As one of the first hotels on this stretch of Zanzibar, Breezes has long been the benchmark for other properties of this ilk. Today it can still firmly hold its head up and, in our view, is still very much at the front of the pack as far as layout, service and general facilities go. Located on a great patch of beach, the 3 restaurants and ample activities should be able to satiate any family or romantic couple.

Great rooms for the money, very good facilities, good beach

Has a resort style

About the location

Set on what is, arguably, the best beach on the island, Breezes has an enviable location for a beach property. It is true that this area is more remote than some of the busier areas to the north of the island but, for those that are wanting a stunning beach, plenty of watersports and a good value property then Breezes will always fit the bill!

The south‑eastern shoreline offers warm, shallow water ideal for snorkelling among bright reef fish, starfish and occasional sea turtles. Low‑tide reef flats reveal crabs and shells across exposed coral, while kayaking and paddle‑boarding are commonly available in the calm lagoon. The quiet beaches and sunrise light create a naturally romantic setting for couples seeking soft adventure and accessible marine wildlife encounters.

However, swimming becomes limited during very low tides, and some areas of the property show light wear compared with newer luxury resorts.

club Layout

As this is a fairly large hotel, this would be, in our view, the only stumbling block for Breezes…but it is an understandable one. With a good sized plot and featuring a good chunk of beach front, they have managed to get quite a few rooms with a sea view…but it is true that, in designing the layout, they have given priority to the communal areas over the rooms and so, there are also quite a few rooms that look out to the backs of other rooms…but, set well apart, this is not really a huge issue. Breezes Beach Club & Spa Accomodation

As far as value for money goes, Breezes has always really delivered great value for money. All of the rooms feature aircon, a comfortable lounge area and a verandah with seating and a table. Decorated in a modern palette, they have all of the features that you would expect for a hotel at this standard. Do see Best Safaris & Holidays on this page.

Beach

The beach that runs from Breezes right through to point at the north is one of the most spectacular that we have seen on the island. Again, at low tide, there is a lot of beach exposed, but, for most of the time, this is a truly spectacular sight with pristine and powder white sand. Definitely one of the best beaches on the island…the only potential drawback these days is the increase of beach sellers.

Rooms

As far as value for money goes, Breezes has always really delivered great value for money. All of the rooms feature aircon, a comfortable lounge area and a verandah with seating and a table. Decorated in a modern palette, they have all of the features that you would expect for a hotel at this standard.
