About the Kilindi Beach Resort location
Situated a short walk along the beach from the busy Kendwa region of the island, on the north eastern coastline, Kilindi benefits from a real rarity on the island, a sunset and almost total seclusion!
The northern coastline offers reliable swimming and clear water for snorkelling among reef fish, rays and small coral formations, while boat excursions reach reefs where green turtles, dolphins and occasional reef sharks are seen. Diving trips can access deeper coral walls where manta rays and, in the right season, humpback whales may appear. Kayaking and paddle‑boarding are often possible in calm conditions, adding gentle adventure to the area’s romantic seclusion.
However, some aspects may feel less convenient: the hillside layout involves steps between key areas, and the open, pavilion‑style design may not suit guests seeking fully enclosed, climate‑controlled spaces.
Kilindi Beach Resort Layout
As mentioned above, due to Kilindi’s location up on the side of a hill, there is a bit of a drop from the main entrance to the beach and also from many of the hillside rooms to the main area and the beach.
Again, this is a small price to pay for a stunning view and so not really an issue. The main area, with dining area, shisha lounge upstairs and pool really works well. It can be a bit of a walk to get back to the room if you have forgotten something…but such is life!

Kilindi Beach Resort Accomodation
Designed along the lines of an Arab settlement, the rooms at Kilindi are quirky and interesting with the main bedroom opening out to the view. From there (and the domed roof) there is a small flight of stairs that runs up to an open air bathroom and central shower.
Underneath this area is the lounge area and the small swimming pool and loungers. It is true that not all of the rooms have stunning views, and that there is a bit of a walk to get to them, but these are small prices to pay for total seclusion and real luxury.
